The tax treaty
In force
The United States and South Africa have an income tax treaty in force. It can lower the US tax withheld on dividends, interest and royalties paid to you, if you claim it on a W-8BEN with your South African tax number, and it settles which country taxes what when both could.

Via Paystack
In South Africa, Stripe works through Paystack, which it owns and which handles local payments. To take card payments in dollars from customers abroad, a US LLC can apply for a US Stripe account.

Mercury opens accounts remotely for US companies whose founders live in South Africa. It asks for the EIN, the formation documents, your passport, a real business address and a description of the company's existing or planned US operations. Relay asks a non-US owner for a US address, an ITIN or Social Security Number and a US operating presence, so it rarely suits a founder living in South Africa.

No. They limit how much money you can send abroad: R2 million a year under the single discretionary allowance, and up to R10 million more with SARS approval. A US company that earns its own revenue and was never funded from South Africa raises a different question, the controlled foreign company rules, so talk to a South African adviser first.
Yes. The United States doesn't require an LLC's owners to be US citizens or residents. You'll need a registered agent in the state, which every plan includes, and your passport for the bank. The filing is the same wherever you live. What changes is the tax treaty, the payment processors and the banks, which this page covers.
