Start a US company from the United Arab Emirates.

Founders in Dubai and Abu Dhabi already have Stripe and pay no personal income tax. They form US companies to sell to American customers as a US vendor, to hold US-facing brands, and to raise from US investors. Check the UAE's own corporate tax before you form, because it can reach a company run from the Emirates.

01What changes because you live here

The filing is the same from anywhere. Four things aren't.

The tax treaty, whether Stripe will take you, which banks will open an account, and the time difference. Each was checked against its source in September 2026.

The tax treaty

None

The United States has no income tax treaty with the United Arab Emirates. Dividends, interest and royalties from US sources are withheld at the standard 30%. Money you earn for work you do in the United Arab Emirates isn't US-source income, so nothing is withheld on it.

Stripe

Available locally

Stripe takes businesses registered in the United Arab Emirates, so you don't need a US company to use it. A US LLC gets you a US Stripe account instead, paid out in dollars to a US bank, which helps when most of your customers are American.

Banking

Mercury available

Mercury opens accounts remotely for US companies whose founders live in the United Arab Emirates. It asks for the EIN, the formation documents, your passport, a real business address and a description of the company's existing or planned US operations. Relay asks a non-US owner for a US address, an ITIN or Social Security Number and a US operating presence, so it rarely suits a founder living in the United Arab Emirates.

The time difference

UTC+4

New York is 8 hours behind the United Arab Emirates in summer. Everything we do is in writing, through your dashboard and email, and we reply within one business day, so the time difference rarely slows anything down.

Checked in September 2026 against the IRS list of tax treaties, Stripe's country page, and Mercury's and Relay's published country lists. If something here has changed, email us and we'll correct it the same day.

02What the United Arab Emirates expects

Owning a US company doesn't take you out of the United Arab Emirates' tax system.

The United Arab Emirates has no personal income tax, so profit you take from the LLC isn't taxed at home. A company run from the United Arab Emirates can still fall under its corporate tax rules, so check before you manage the business from there.

  • The UAE has no personal income tax, so profit you take from the company isn't taxed at home.
  • Since 2023, UAE corporate tax treats a foreign company that's effectively managed and controlled from the UAE as a UAE resident. Its profit above AED 375,000 is then taxed at 9%. A US LLC you run day to day from Dubai may fall inside that rule, so ask a UAE tax adviser first.
  • There's no US-UAE income tax treaty, so US-source dividends, interest and royalties are withheld at 30%. Work you do in the UAE isn't US-source income.

05Questions

Questions from the United Arab Emirates.

If yours is not here, email us at [email protected] before you order.

It can. UAE corporate tax treats a foreign company that's effectively managed and controlled from the UAE as resident, and taxes its profit above AED 375,000 at 9%. Whether yours counts depends on where decisions are made and by whom, so ask a UAE tax adviser before you form.

Yes. The United States doesn't require an LLC's owners to be US citizens or residents. You'll need a registered agent in the state, which every plan includes, and your passport for the bank. The filing is the same wherever you live. What changes is the tax treaty, the payment processors and the banks, which this page covers.

No. The filing, the EIN, the operating agreement, the bank application and the payment processors are all handled online. You don't need a visa or a trip.

The United States has no income tax treaty with the United Arab Emirates. Dividends, interest and royalties from US sources are withheld at the standard 30%. Money you earn for work you do in the United Arab Emirates isn't US-source income, so nothing is withheld on it.

You don't need one for Stripe, because Stripe already takes businesses in the United Arab Emirates. A US LLC gives you a US Stripe account paid out in dollars to a US bank, which some founders prefer when most of their customers are American.
