Since 2018, a state can require a seller elsewhere to collect its sales tax once sales into the state pass a threshold, usually $100,000 a year, even with no presence there. Inventory in a warehouse in the state creates nexus whatever the sales. On marketplaces, the marketplace collects the tax instead of the seller.
